Anxiety is a common condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by feelings of worry, fear, and apprehension that can be overwhelming and interfere with daily activities. Anxiety can manifest in different ways, including physical symptoms such as increased heart rate, sweating, and trembling, as well as cognitive symptoms such as racing thoughts and difficulty concentrating.

Causes of Anxiety: Anxiety can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, life experiences, and stress. People with a family history of anxiety disorders are more likely to develop the condition themselves, as are those who have experienced trauma or significant life stressors. Some medical conditions, such as thyroid disorders and heart disease, can also contribute to anxiety.

Symptoms of Anxiety: Anxiety can manifest in different ways, but some common symptoms include:

 

  • Feeling nervous, tense, or on edge

  • Racing thoughts

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Physical symptoms such as increased heart rate, sweating, and trembling

  • Avoiding social situations or activities

  • Panic attacks

  • Difficulty sleeping

We all experience anxiety in our lifes and learning how to manage it can be really difficult. Everyone deals with anxiety in different ways whether that be going for a walk or meditating, dealing with anxiety can be difficult but we are here to help. We have found a few ways you can help ease your anxiety and the symptoms it brings. 

 

5 tips to help your anxiety

Talking to someone:

 

Talking can be difficult when suffering from anxiety, you may feel like you find it hard to tell people how you really feel. Opening up about your feelings and talking about them are the first steps in managing your anxiety. Mind and Sanity was build on the power of talking and bringing together a community that helps each other through the good times but also the bad.

 

Exercise:

 

Exercise is the perfect way to relieve any anxiousness from within. Getting out in the fresh air for some light exercise, whether that be a walk or a jog can benefit not only your health but also relieve the anxious symptoms you are feeling. 

 

Keeping a Diary:

 

Writing down how you are feeling is a great way to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. A great way to do this is keeping a journal, journaling has proved to be a great therapeutic tool. Being out in nature and having time to yourself can not only benefit your mental health but help release any tension you may be feeling.

 

Meditation:

 

Meditating is a great way to reclaim sanity and be at one with yourself. Mediating doesn't just mean sitting on the floor listening to calming music. Its abut finding what works for you, whether that be through breathing exercises, or listening to a meditation podcast. Meditation is all about taking some time out to be with yourself, you could even join meditation classes whether that be face to face or virtual.

 

Therapy: 

 

Many people think of therapy as someone you talk to about our problems but its more then that. It's about building a relationship with someone you trust that you could share what's on your mind with.
